First: the problem is brings from the manipulation of perception.

The stoic philosophy deeply states that every external occurrence or object is has an effect on you depending on ur perspective over it. Therefore is the media is able to completely manipulate your perception over it, hence artificially manipulating the effect. Thus being able to control the natural system of pain and pleasure, thus completely controlling the path of the individuals it resides over. Thus leading the manipulation the reality of the natural effect of events or objects. Thus disrupting the individuals process of doing what is good for him as an individual; in his setting and environment or in himself physically. Leading to the disruption of the natural order of things stated by the stoic philosophy. Leading to the downfall of human beings through their self consumption.

Second: On the individual level.

The disruption of perception of what the effect an object has on the individual instead of the realistic effect. Leads to an imbalance between the real effect and the newly artificially constructed one. Thus leading to the coercion on human ability to act rationally. Back to the stoic philosophy of using rationality to guide down the natural path, rational used to decide over pleasure and pain. Creating humans into stupid humans that skip the process of rationality to decide the pleasure and pain that is in favour of the individual.

Third: the connection (an extra step).

Therefore what happens on the individual which is the inability to actually rationally make a decision or more like a guide to reach realistically desirable decisions. Leads to the disfunctionality of a grand part of the organic structure of society and therefore leading to self consumption and destruction. Maybe Marx was right that capitalism is the final stage of the world, but there is no socialism afterwards. Instead a completely consumerist society that sociologically is incapable of advancing.
